The opportunities offered by the regional law regulating oil tourism in Puglia (n. 9 of 10 June 2025) will be the focus of a open discussion for all millers and operators in the olive oil sector scheduled for Friday 27 June, at 16:00 pm, at the LABZERO of the Polytechnic of Bari (Via Giovanni Amendola, 132).
The initiative is promoted by AIFO – Italian Association of Oil Millers, within the scope of the Executive Project 2025 of Italy Olive growing, with the support ofXNUMX-XNUMX business days through EU Regulation 2021/2115. The event will be attended by Giuseppe L'Abbate, former Undersecretary for Agricultural Policies, who will illustrate the contents of the law and its practical implications for the sector.
The law, published in the Official Bulletin of the Puglia Region on 16 June, introduces a organic regulatory framework for oil tourism, recognizing it as a connected agricultural activity, encouraging territorial valorization paths and offering a new income opportunity to oil mill and olive oil companies. In fact, oil tourism includes guided visits to oil mills, tastings, educational, cultural and recreational activities related to the world of extra virgin olive oil., with the aim of strengthening territorial identity and quality rural hospitality.
“With this law – declares the AIFO President, Elia Pellegrino – Puglia takes a decisive step forward in combining agri-food quality, local culture and sustainable tourism. Oil tourism represents a concrete opportunity for our mills to tell their story, open up to the public and transform knowledge of oil into experience. As AIFO, we want to accompany the millers on this new path, offering opportunities for in-depth study and tools to fully grasp the potential of the regulation”.
